Jade Goody’s mother, Jackiey Budden, has spoken out for the first time since it was reported her daughter’s ex, Jeff Brazier, had launched legal action to stop her from seeing her grandson Freddy.
The family dispute has escalated with Brazier seeking to block access to his 20-year-old son and according to reports, Brazier has hired a leading barrister for an upcoming court hearing.
The move comes amid long-standing tensions between Brazier and Budden, which have persisted since Goody’s death from cervical cancer in 2009. Freddy was just four years old when his mother passed away.
Budden has now broken her silence on the legal proceedings, responding defiantly to Brazier attempts to stop her seeing her grandson.
Speaking to the Mail on Monday, she said: “I know what this is all about. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter.”
She added firmly: “Do I want to see Freddy? Of course I do. I see Freddy all of the time. I will see him.”
Budden did not mince her words when discussing her former son-in-law, repeatedly using strong language to describe Jeff during the interview.
The relationship between Brazier and Budden has been strained for years.

In 2023, Budden branded Brazier a “c***” after claiming she had to buy her own ticket to the National Television Awards to see her other grandson Bobby win the Rising Star award.
When asked about her relationship with Brazier at the event, she simply replied: “He’s a c***. He has been one for nine f***ing years.”
Budden had previously stated she would hold off criticising Brazier until her grandchildren were older before she would “let rip” against their father.
According to The Sun, Brazier’s move to block Budden’s access to Freddy is in a bid to “keep his son safe”.
A source told the publication: “This is something Jeff and anyone who cares about Freddy hopes will help keep Freddy safe from a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing for a long time now.”
The insider added: “The fact that he is going down this route shows how concerned we all our and how our efforts to keep Fred safe are being grossly undermined by other people.”
Sources suggest that Freddy frequently visits Budden’s home in Bermondsey, southeast London, particularly after arguments with his father.
“Freddy will often turn up on the doorstep, sometimes very unhappy, and wanting to see his nan,” a source previously commented.
“He and Jeff often argue, the rows can be bad, things go really, really pear-shaped between them and that’s it, he leaves.”
Despite Budden acknowledging her own shortcomings as a grandmother, insiders claim Freddy feels more comfortable opening up to her than to his father.
Brazier and his son recently appeared together on Celebrity Race Across The World, which offered an opportunity for father-son bonding.
Brazier expressed his anticipation for the journey, saying: “D oyou know what I’m most looking forward to about this trip is that I feel like I’m about to learn a lot more about my son.”
Meanwhile, Jack Tweed, Goody’s widower, has called for peace in the family. “Jade would not want that. She would just want peace for everybody,” he told MailOnline.
Bobby has previously reconnected with his grandmother after a period of estrangement.
