Simon Cowell’s seemingly spontaneous decision in the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent has left fans fuming about the show’s “predictable” nature.
The ITV classic continued on Saturday, and while several memorable acts took to the stage, it was the final audition shown, a singer, who sparked a social media storm.
Louise Hall, 29, entered the stage as the final act of the episode, hoping to impress the judges with her vocals.
The teacher expressed how much winning would mean to her before she began to sing Something Beautiful by Jacob Banks. However, just seconds in, Cowell gestured for her to stop.
“Sorry, do you have a second song?” the judge interjected as the room filled with silence.
“I do,” Louise replied, to which Cowell suggested: “I think if you’re going to do this, and this obviously means a lot to you – I think you’ve really got to stop overthinking this for a second and just let go.”
Louise nodded nervously as Cowell went on: “That was kind of like, what I call a polite audition.”
“OK, I’ll fight in this one for you, Simon,” the determined singer assured him.
