Harry Potter star opens up on ‘secret second child’ in rare insight into life off-screen

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has delighted fans with an adorable snap of his new baby girl with partner Georgia Groome.

The 36-year-old actor took to Instagram to share the news in a rare look into the couple’s normally very guarded private life.

“Secret Child Slightly Revealed,” Grint began in his post which showed a picture of his daughter.

In the picture, the adorable tot was seen wearing a top bearing her name and a grey cardigan while laying on an animal print robe.

“Introducing Goldie G. Grint. A 10/10 baby (so far),” Grint wrote alongside a star emoji.

The star also thanked the couple’s obstetrician for “always delivering”.

Grint and Groome’s announcement comes completely out of the blue, with the pregnancy remaining hidden until now.

Their secretive nature comes as no surprise as the pair are notably guarded about their private lives, with Grint only joining Instagram to share the name of his first daughter, Wednesday, in 2020.

Initially, the couple had announced the birth of Wednesday Grint but chose to keep her name a secret.

Their publicist Clair Dobbs said: “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”

“Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert,” Grint wrote later that year.

The actor, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, was flooded with congratulations from fans in the comments of his post – many referencing his role in the series.

One joyously declared: “ANOTHER WEASLEY!”

“Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley,” another joked.

A third added with a heart emoji: “Congratulations! Another member of the Weasley household.”

“Congratulations, Rupert and Georgia! I wish you all the best and I’m so happy for you! That’s a beautiful name that’s for sure,” a fourth glowed.

The happy news comes as the Harry Potter world awaits HBO’s own TV adaption of the classic JK Rowling books in coming years – with a few big names already signed on to the project.
