Have I Got News For You viewers were left switching off from the BBC series after claiming it had become “woke, liberal nonsense”.
Tonight, the episode was hosted by Sue Perkins with guest panellists comedian Michelle Wolf and journalist Tom Peck joining team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.
Introducing the show, Perkins said: “Good evening and welcome to Have I Got News for You. I am Sue Perkins, and in the news this week, at a Palace reception, one footman is guaranteed promotion after smuggling in some neat gin.
“Arriving home from his local branch of B&Q, a Stockport man realises he’s made that classic mistake of leaving something on the roof and driving off.
“And in Leicester Square, a very thoughtful, new, and conceptual artwork depicts a very special relationship between Sir Kier Starmer and Donald Trump.”
However, within minutes of the panellists beginning to debate, and took to their social media to slam how “boring” the show had become.

“Now, just a woke, liberal nonsense show with cheap laughs (loosely).”
Someone else said: “I used to laugh at this, back in the day. Not watched it for ages, thought I’d give it a go tonight. It’s totally boring, and as funny as ringworm.”

“Elitist old woke people who like hacky unoriginal jokers delivered by daytime TV presenters? Is that a big demographic?”
A sixth expressed: “I used to laugh, quite a lot, watching #HIGNFY back in the day. Not watched it for ages, but decided to give it a chance. I’m 12 minutes in. It’s not funny. At all.” (sic)
Have I Got News For You has aired 610 episodes over 68 series and was originally presented by Angus Deayton between 1990 and 2002 and a number of guest presenters have filled the role ever since.
Team captain Hilslop previously revealed the “best and worst guest” to ever grace hit the BBC show, with a number of famous faces having sat behind the desk.
Speaking to the Independent at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards, Hilslop said: ‘My favourite guest was William Shatner, Captain Kirk from Star Trek.
“He had no idea who we were. He didn’t know any of the news stories and was incredibly funny, and he actually sang.
“He’d just released an album, so I think he was probably both the best and the worst guest ever.”
