Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon has announced she is pregnant with her first child at the age of 44.
The singer shared the joyful news on social media today after what she described as “years of sometimes quite painful IVF and quite dark times”.
McClarnon, who rose to fame as part of the popular girl group, has been open about her fertility struggles spanning nearly two decades.

In the video, McClarnon explained why she had been less active on social media recently.
“I’ve been keeping a secret from you… And I’ve mostly kept myself off social media because sometimes it was hard to smile,” she wrote over the clip.
The big reveal came when she suddenly stood up and turned sideways to show her growing baby bump.
“I’m pregnant!” she exclaimed joyfully, while rubbing her belly. She added emotionally: “We feel like we’ve been given the world!”
The singer has been candid about her difficult IVF journey and the challenges she faced along the way.
McClarnon married her husband Peter in 2023, and has previously spoken about her fertility concerns dating back many years.
In 2009, she experienced a health scare when she was rushed to hospital with a suspected ectopic pregnancy.
At the time, she revealed: “After several scans, the specialists told me that my Fallopian tubes were stuck together, which can have similar symptoms to an ectopic pregnancy.”
She underwent surgery to separate her Fallopian tubes and was discharged from hospital after two days.
Following her health scare, McClarnon made the selfless decision to become an egg donor to help others struggling with fertility issues.
Her journey from that difficult period to her current pregnancy highlights the challenges many women face with fertility.
