BBC Antiques Roadshow’s Theo Burrell delivers major health update following brain cancer battle treatment

BBC Antiques Roadshow’s Theo Burrell has delivered a candid health update amid her battle with brain cancer.

Burrell, a regular on the BBC programme, revealed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour at just 35 years old.

Burrell was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 glioblastoma after experiencing symptoms such as headaches and nausea in 2021.

Since going public with her diagnosis, she has been candid about her cancer journey, sharing regular updates with her followers and using her platform to raise awareness about the disease.

In her latest Instagram post, Theo shared a photo of vibrant roses with the words “Health update!” written across the image.

Alongside it, she shared uplifting news, writing: “This week I learnt that my treatment has been working over the last few months, and my scan shows no active cancer cells!

“The tumour will return, but for now, things are looking pretty quiet. Round 7 of chemo also started on Monday evening. My bloods are definitely starting to suffer but not enough to prevent continuing treatment for now.

“Whilst meeting my oncologist, I asked some hard questions about what lies ahead, in terms of future treatment options and how I might be physically affected by any tumour regrowth. In doing so, I lost sight of this week’s good news, so I’m coming back to day-to-day living and not focusing on what may (or may not!) follow.

Burrell, a specialist auctioneer in fine furniture and art, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour when her son was just one year old- a discovery she described as “devastating.”

Back in December, she shared that her brain tumours had “regrown” and that she would be resuming chemotherapy.

“Results are in, and regrowth has been confirmed. It’s been a tough few months, and it’s not the news we wanted, but at least answers have been given,” she wrote in a candid Instagram post.

She continued: “I’ll be starting back on chemo (Temozolomide) in the next couple of weeks. So it’s onwards and forwards (upwards is maybe a little too cheery for me right now!) I go.”
