A Ferrari F355 formerly owned by Jeremy Clarkson, which he once described as “the best car in the world”, will be going under the hammer in July.
A 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS will be up for auction at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Cliveden House auction on July 8, and could fetch between £180,000 and £220,000.
The Ferrari was purchased new by Clarkson in 1996 and made numerous appearances on Clarkson’s Car Years and in The Sunday Times.
The star of Clarkson’s Farm described it as “the greatest car in the world, ever” on the VHS special Unleashed on Cars.

Clarkson chose the F355 as the car when he retook his driving test, which he ultimately failed.
After four years of ownership, Clarkson wrote in Top Gear magazine that the Ferrari 355 had only covered 6,000 miles.
The slick Ferrari has had several owners since Clarkson decided to depart from the vehicle after a prize giveaway in The Sunday Times.
The car was kept pristine, with expert John Pogson at Italia Autosport maintaining the Ferrari in May 2025.
This included a service belt change, refresh of the steering rack, plus paint correction and detailing, which cost £9,345.
Whoever wins the auction on July 8 will receive the Ferrari with a new MOT, less than 15,000 miles on the clock, all owner’s guides, a toolkit and a cover.
The warranty card proves that Jeremy Clarkson purchased the Ferrari F355 GTS from Maranello Concessionaires on August 15, 1996, from salesman Mark Hawkins.
The Ferrari was also pictured on the front of Jeremy Clarkson’s Hot 100 magazine in the “cars that make you go phwoar!” edition.
