Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher’s older brother Paul is charged with rape and violent sex offences

The older brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher has been charged with rape and, a string of other violent sex offences.

Paul Gallagher, from East Finchley in north London, is facing charges for rape, sexual assault, coercive control, and making threats to kill.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022-2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.”

Gallagher will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 27.

Metropolitan Police officers arrested and charged him after launching their investigation in 2024.

The charges encompass rape, sexual assault, coercive and controlling behaviour, and making death threats.

Additional allegations include intentional strangulation and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The alleged crimes reportedly occurred over a two-year period from 2022 to 2024.

Police confirmed that specialist officers are providing support to a female victim connected to the case.

The charges emerge whilst his younger brothers continue their highly publicised Oasis reunion performances across the UK.

The Metropolitan Police detailed eleven separate charges against Gallagher following their year-long investigation.

The allegations span a period of approximately two years and involve a single complainant.

Detectives began their enquiries last year before bringing formal charges against the 59-year-old.

Paul Gallagher, aged 59, is the eldest of the three brothers, being twelve months senior to Noel and seven years older than Liam.

The siblings spent their childhood together in Burnage, Manchester, before the younger two achieved global fame with Oasis.

Unlike his brothers, Paul has remained outside the music industry and never participated in the band’s activities.

He currently resides in a north London property that Noel purchased in 2004.

His professional life has included work as a disc jockey and photographer.

The timing coincides with Oasis’s ongoing reunion tour, which sees the band performing three additional Wembley Stadium concerts this week.

The group’s next performance is scheduled for Wednesday evening, the same day as Paul Gallagher’s court appearance.
