Channel 4 has decided not to renew Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle’s contracts for the upcoming series of Gogglebox, bringing an end to their tenure on the popular programme.
The Scottish pair revealed their departure through a series of social media announcements on Instagram and TikTok, explaining that the broadcaster had chosen not to invite them back for series 26.
Their exit comes after three and a half years of appearing on the reality television show, where viewers watch families and friends commenting on weekly television programmes from their homes.
Kelly and Kyle joined the programme in February 2022, becoming the first Scottish representatives to feature on the long-running series.
In their TikTok statement, Kelly expressed appreciation for the production company, writing: “We couldn’t be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights!”
The couple acknowledged their pride in representing Scotland, stating: “It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.”
Kelly, 26, and Kyle, 28, reflected on the unexpected nature of their departure, with Kelly writing that Channel 4 had “decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs.”
The couple paid special tribute to the production team who had worked with them throughout their time on the programme.
