Kelly Osbourne has opened up about her profound grief following the loss of her father, legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, in a deeply personal Instagram message shared on Monday.
The 40-year-old television personality acknowledged she is struggling to cope with her father’s passing on July 22 at the age of 76.
In her emotional post, Osbourne confessed to attempting to compose the message numerous times before finding the right words.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to supporters whilst admitting the reality of her grief.
The daughter of the rock icon was candid about her emotional state, revealing she anticipates a lengthy period of mourning. She described experiencing grief in unpredictable waves that catch her off guard.
“the words will ever feel like enough.. but from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she penned.
“The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life.
“Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.
“Grief is a strange thing-it sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be ok for a while – but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.
“Thank you for being there. I love you all so much. Kelly #BirminghamForever #OzzyForever.”
The heavy metal legend passed away nearly a fortnight ago, with his family confirming the news through an official announcement signed by his widow Sharon and four of his six children.
The statement revealed he died whilst surrounded by loved ones and requested privacy during their time of mourning.
The Birmingham-born musician had been battling Parkinson’s disease since receiving his diagnosis in 2019.
Recent reports indicate he was laid to rest this week at his 250-acre English estate, Welders House, which he and Sharon purchased in 1993.
The property served as the family’s retreat from the entertainment industry during the peak years of his career.
Despite achieving global rock stardom, those close to him emphasised that family remained his primary focus throughout his life.
In a poignant twist, Kelly became engaged to her long-term partner, Slipknot musician Sid Wilson, at what would be her father’s final performance.
The proposal occurred backstage at the Black Sabbath reunion concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, mere weeks before Ozzy’s passing.
The touching moment unfolded in front of her parents, with Sharon attempting to quieten the backstage crew whilst Sid declared his love.
Ozzy briefly interrupted with characteristic humour, jokingly protesting: “F*** off! You’re not marrying my daughter.”
