Jack Osbourne has shared his first public message since his father Ozzy’s death, posting an emotional tribute on Instagram this morning. The 39-year-old broke his silence to honour the Black Sabbath legend, who passed away on July 22 aged 76.
The heavy metal icon died from cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease, with his death certificate also listing Parkinson’s disease as a contributing factor.
Jack’s heartfelt post included a video montage featuring photographs and clips of himself with his father, marking his first social media activity since the family tragedy.
In his Instagram message, Jack revealed he had struggled to post anything since his father’s passing, explaining that his “heart has hurt too much”.
He acknowledged that whilst Ozzy meant many things to countless people, he felt fortunate to belong to the select few who could address him as “Dad”.
“My heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude,” Jack wrote. He reflected on spending 14,501 days with his father, recognising this time as a profound blessing.
Jack noted that Ozzy disliked lengthy speeches, prompting him to keep his tribute brief.
Instead, Jack shared a quote from author Hunter S Thompson that he felt perfectly captured his father’s approach to life.
