“Thank you Australia for the magical memories! More to come on our adventures… but we had to share some of our favourite pictures,” the couple wrote on their family Instagram account.

They added: “We have hugged, laughed and swapped stories with so many… it’s really been truly amazing.”

The photographs prompted an outpouring of emotion from followers who have watched the Strawbridge children grow up on television over the years.

“One, I just want to cry. Looking at Dorothy and Arthur and how they have grown. I’ve watched your beautiful family from the beginning of the Chateau show (which I miss). They are beautiful. Dorothy is gorgeous and Arthur is exceedingly handsome,” one fan commented.

Another follower wrote: “I cannot believe how much Dorothy and Arthur have grown. I remember how little they were. I watched your TV program from the very beginning.”

The sentiment was echoed by numerous other fans, with one noting: “Surreal to see how grown up the kids are considering we’re still seeing reruns of the Chateau when Arthur was 9!”

“Amazing photos!! Those kids are so tall and grown up. You guys look fantastic too,” commented a fourth while a fifth weighed in: “Can’t believe how much Arthur & Dorothy have grown, such a beautiful family looks like you all had the most amazing time xx.” (sic)

The family’s Australian visit included encounters with native wildlife, with photographs showing them spending time with wallabies at a nature reserve and meeting snakes. Beach excursions also featured prominently in their holiday activities.

The Strawbridges have been travelling across Australia as part of their milestone Forever Home tour, which they described as bringing their Channel 4 programme to Australian audiences “like never before”.

The interactive show format includes competitions where audience members can win opportunities to join the family on stage.

In promotional material for the tour, the couple explained: “There is only so much of our story that can be told on the telly, and as life at the Chateau continues to evolve, we will share an insight into what it takes to build a forever home.”

The Channel 4 series, which documented the family’s renovation of their 19th-century Château de la Motte-Husson in France, concluded in December 2022 after nine series and 50 episodes.

The programme had begun in 2016 when Arthur and Dorothy were much younger.

The couple revealed to HELLO! magazine in 2023 that they had decided to end the series two years prior to protect their children’s privacy.

“Arthur is starting senior school and the pressure on our little ones is phenomenal,” they explained at the time.

However, the duo had hit headlines after an expletive-laden rant from Angel at a member of the show’s crew was leaked to the public. The pair denied this was behind the decision to end the show.
