Trailblazing model and actor Ellie Goldstein has become the ninth star revealed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
The historic announcement came this morning on BBC Breakfast, just hours after the series had pulled off another first after unveiling La Voix as its first drag queen contestant.
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast and pros of Strictly Come Dancing this year,” Goldstein said. “It’s a show I’ve loved watching for so long, and the chance to now be part of it feels like a dream.”
She acknowledged the challenges ahead whilst expressing enthusiasm for the experience.

“I know it’s going to be challenging, but I’m ready to do it with the glitter and glamour and make some magic on that dancefloor. Let the Strictly journey begin!”
Goldstein broke new ground in 2023 when she became the first person with Down syndrome to feature on British Vogue’s cover.
Her pioneering modelling work extends across numerous prestigious publications, including Glamour, Elle, Mission Mag and Euphoria.
Major fashion houses have embraced her talent, with Goldstein fronting significant advertising campaigns for Gucci Beauty and Adidas.

The model’s achievements have earned her recognition as a groundbreaking figure in fashion, with her work spanning editorial features and commercial partnerships with leading global brands.
Beyond modelling, Goldstein has ventured into television acting, securing a prominent guest role in CBBC’s Malory Towers.
Her collaboration with toy manufacturer Mattel proved particularly significant, as she helped introduce the first Barbie doll representing someone with Down syndrome two years ago.
The BBC revealed Goldstein’s participation during Wednesday morning’s broadcast. Hours earlier, La Voix and Chris Robshaw had been confirmed as the seventh and eighth contestants.
Gladiator Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was the first celebrity unveiled earlier this week. He previously took to the dance floor during last year’s Christmas special.
Elsewhere, Love Island winner Dani Dyer will be performing on this year’s show, as will actress Alex Kingston and football legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and podcaster and TikTok star George Clarke complete the line-up as of Wednesday morning.
