Amanda Owen fires back after sparking health concerns as fans left worried by Our Yorkshire Farm star’s appearance

Our Farm Next Door star Amanda Owen has hit back at the mounting concerns about her physical appearance with a rather defiant social media post.

Ms Owen, who shot to fame on Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm, shared footage of herself horse riding in swimwear across the Yorkshire countryside as the sun beamed behind her in the footage.

The 50-year-old mum-of-nine posted the video on Instagram, directly addressing those who have commented on her recent weight loss in her previous posts.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess’s video message confronted critics who have expressed worry about her health following the recent photographs that prompted discussion amongst her followers.

In the video, Ms Owen directly addressed her detractors with a forthright message about ageing and personal choices.

“One day, in the not too distant future, I will be far too old to ride a horse, far too old to wear a bikini and definitely far too old to ride a horse and wear a bikini,” she stated in the clip.

The Yorkshire-based farmer emphasised her intention to continue pursuing activities that bring her joy. “So, for now, that’s what I’m going to do, if the weather lets me,” she declared.

The video also featured a split-second message in its final moments, which reiterated the sentiment of the video. “Don’t explain your philosophy, embody it,” she penned.

Ms Owen accompanied her video with a written statement expressing her defiance to overcome any negativity directed at her.

“Determined to ride out the storm of any negativity or concerns for my health,” she wrote in the caption. “Being happy and confident is easier on the most perfect evening and in good company.”

She continued: “A bonus is not being blighted by insects that sting and bites hurt far, far more than any derisory comments.”

Following the update, it didn’t take long for her followers to react, and while many praised Ms Owen for her powerful stance, others attempted to justify their concern from her previous updates.

“Okay some of us were genuinely concerned by your weight loss, but if you say you’re in good health, then that’s all that matters. Enjoy,” one follower remarked.

A second concurred: “Good on you, love. But I think a lot of the comments were out of concern. But if you’re in good health and well. Fair enough.”

Meanwhile, a third echoed: “I follow but never commented. I was very scared for you. No hate. Lots of concern.”

However, several took the opportunity to applaud Ms Owen on her public statement. “As long as you’re happy & healthy, nothing else matters! You look amazing! Keep living your life as you choose, ignore the negativity. Some sad people in this world! Have a lovely weekend,” a fourth follower weighed in.

“Fantastic! Love this! Keep doing everything you want to do,” added a fifth before a sixth commented: “Love the positivity and ignore the haters!” (sic)

Ms Owen rose to prominence in 2018 through the Channel 5 programme Our Yorkshire Farm, which documented her life at Ravenseat Farm alongside her then-husband Clive, aged 69, and their nine children. The couple separated in 2022 following 22 years of marriage.

The Huddersfield-born presenter has appeared in five series of the original programme and two series of Our Farm Next Door on More4. She maintains a social media following of 540,000 and regularly shares updates about farm life.

Recent posts showing Owen in work attire prompted followers to express worry about her physical condition, with several commenting about her noticeable weight reduction.
