Television personality Katie Price has expressed feeling “overwhelmed” following an outpouring of public support after she disclosed the identity of a British TV star she claims sexually assaulted her over two decades ago.
The 47-year-old former glamour model made the revelation during a live performance alongside Kerry Katona earlier this week, leaving audience members stunned.
The disclosure occurred during An Evening with Katie Price and Kerry Katona, where attendees were left in stunned silence when Price identified her alleged attacker.
One audience member described the atmosphere as “silent shock” when the revelation was made.
Ms Price had previously maintained that she would never disclose the person’s identity, writing in a magazine column over a decade and a half ago: “I was raped by a celebrity, but no, I’ll never name him, I just don’t want the drama.”
However, she indicated last year that her position had shifted and she would eventually reveal the name.
On the latest episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, which was released on Friday, Ms Price spoke to sister Sophie and their producer Ben about the outpouring of support she’s received this week since the allegations hit headlines.
The podcast’s producer said: “I’m going to read out a few things for you here and see what your reactions are. Just been going through the messages on the podcast.
“This one’s from Hannah Higgins, ‘Hi, ladies, just listen to the latest pod. You’re brave to talk about it, so well done. I think you’re a great mother, and your podcast is fabulous. Keep strong.’
“This is from Helen, ‘I’m listening to the latest podcast. I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through.’
“This is another one, ‘Hey girls, I’ve been listening to the show religiously for a long time. I’ve always been a fan of Katie, but you both together are wonderful. I just wanted to say thank you to Katie for showing so many of us what we’re made of and how to be a true fighter. Katie’s resilience and honesty have been so helpful and uplifting. The media have such misogyny when it comes to Kate’s life.’
“This one is from Ryan, ‘Millions of people support KP. I got you’,” Ms Price’s producer added, prompting her sister to chip in: “Yeah, KP! Love that.”

More well-wishes were read out by the show’s producer: “Amy said, ‘Wow, Kate, I know you probably won’t see this, but I can’t not message. Just listening to the podcast, and it’s disgusting how you’ve been treated. You hold your head up high and sending hugs.’ It just goes on and on and on. There’s so much support.”
“That’s amazing. So good,” Ms Price’s sibling said, prompting Ms Price to weigh in: “That is. And that was Ben reading that. I’m so overwhelmed. Like, I’m just so happy.”
The 47-year-old continued: “No, I love all them messages. It’s nice, inspiring, and encouraging.”
The producer then turned to Ms Price’s sister to see how she felt to see the lovely messages for her sibling following the recent media reports.
“Well, like I said earlier, like, you’ve constantly been used to fighting, fighting, fighting, or, ‘What’s coming up next? Oh, it’s negative,’ or ‘What’s this? Oh, we’ve got to fight that now, da, da, da, da, da.’
“Now everything is sort of calm. It’s a bit like, it almost feels a bit uneasy. Then it’s nice at the same time. You know, does that make sense?”
Ms Price agreed with her sister, commenting: “Yeah, it is like that.”
The former I’m A Celebrity and Big Brother star’s tour continues this month before coming to an end on November 2.
Ms Price first publicly addressed the alleged assault in the aforementioned 2009 OK! magazine column, responding to accusations about her then-partner Alex Reid.
She wrote: “Rape is a subject very close to my own heart. I was raped when I was younger, more than once.”
