JLS star Aston Merrygold has been taken to hospital in an ambulance, the singer revealed through Instagram Stories this evening.
The 37-year-old musician posted photographs from inside the emergency vehicle showing himself strapped to a stretcher.
Images shared by the former X Factor contestant showed him connected to an intravenous drip whilst being transported.
One photograph captured Merrygold wearing sunglasses whilst lying on the stretcher, whilst another showed a medical tab attached to his hand.
Despite the concerning circumstances, the Beat Again singer appeared in positive spirits, giving a thumbs up gesture in one of the selfies.
Merrygold offered limited explanation for his hospitalisation, commenting only that “it’s been an interesting 13 hours” on his Instagram Stories.
The singer did not disclose the medical reason behind his ambulance admission or provide details about his condition.
The timing of the hospital visit comes just days after JLS made a surprise appearance at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The group performed alongside artists including Mariah Carey and Benson Boone, delivering a four-song setlist featuring their hits The Club Is Alive, Beat Again, She Makes Me Wanna and Everybody In Love.
The band expressed their excitement about the performance on their official Instagram page.
In a post, they penned: “What an incredible 360 experience it was being back on the Wembley stage for the Capital Summertime Ball! AND WHAT A MOMENT!!”
The surprise Summertime Ball performance marked a significant moment for JLS ahead of their newly announced Club Is Alive Tour, scheduled for November 2025.
The tour will comprise 18 dates across 24 days, beginning at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and concluding with two performances at London’s O2 Arena.
Rapper and DJ Example will support the group on 14 of the tour dates. In their official tour announcement, the band stated: “Your boys are back!
“We’re SO excited to be back out on the road with another Hits tour bringing the full CLUB vibes to your city!”
Merrygold has also been pursuing individual projects, recently making his voice acting debut in the Disney Pixar film Elio alongside Zoe Saldana and Jameela Jamil.
JLS found fame as runners-up on The X Factor’s fifth series in 2008, finishing behind Alexandra Burke.
The group achieved five number one singles and five additional top 10 hits between 2009 and 2012 before splitting in 2013.
