A tech CEO got caught in an intimate embrace with a coworker on the jumbotron at a Coldplay concert this week, sparking rumours the pair were having an affair.
Viral footage showed a fan, understood to be Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, and his company’s Chief People Officer, beleived to be Kristin Cabot, jumping out of each other’s arms as they flashed up on a “kiss cam” during the band’s show in Boston on Wednesday night.
The pair were comfortable in a close hug, before spotting their faces on the big screen and darting apart; Byron falling to the floor, and Cabot turning away from the camera.
Lead singer, Chris Martin, 48, joked into his microphone, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy,” before expressing remorse over unintentionally calling them out: “Oh s–t, I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
The pair have since been accused of having an alleged affair due to the intimate nature of the clip, however neither party nor outside source has confirmed the suspicions.
It took only a matter of hours for the clip to be posted to social media and rack up millions of views across multiple sites and global TV networks.
The “couple” have now made headlines around the world, and the clip has now been shared globally, with people identifying the duo as well as finding and contacting their family members and workplace.
Despite dominating headlines around the world, the band refused to actively participate in the discourse surrounding the duo, instead posting to Instagram with a three-word caption: Show #207, completed.
The cryptic post doesn’t directly mention anything about the hot topic, however the comments have been flooded with jokes about the incident.
“Who needs a P.I. when there’s Chris Martin uncovering secrets and masks?” one user scoffed, another: “Everyone here after the affair picture”, a comment that received 40k likes.
Coldplay garnered an impressive 28.8million followers on the social media site, with their recent post receiving over six thousand comments, more than any of their recent posts.
Now, brands and public figures have taken to social media to double down on the duo’s blunder and further exacerbate their embarrassment.
Social media sites have been flooded with tens of thousands of comments, memes, and jokes about the discourse.
Airline Ryan Air ‘quote-tweeted’ the video on social media site X, saying:” Ryanair [handshake] Coldplay, splitting up couples.” (sic).
“Me liking every post about the cheating CEO and Chief of People from Astronomer at the Coldplay concert,” one user said with a gambling GIF attached, another quipped: “The concept of Coldplay destroying your marriage…”
Another added: “Taking your mistress to see Coldplay is crazy, you would have to HATE your wife to listen to Yellow with another woman in your arms.”
The Grammy award-winning band is currently in the United States as part of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour.
They will next play Maddison, Nashville and Miami before heading back to the UK for a string of dates in August.
It’s reported the band made an eye-watering £100million Spheres World Tour so far, pulling in £4.8million per show.
The British band has been together since 1996, earning themselves BRIT awards, Grammy’s and Billboards.
